Today had to be the longest working day of my entire 20 odd year in the work force. Today my work colleagues and I had to attend an all day Orthodontic course. Quick lesson: orthodontics is a specialized branch of dentistry that corrects the malocclusion and restores the teeth to proper alignment and function. There are several different types of appliances used in orthodontics, one of which is commonly referred to as braces.
I initially thought that it would be a great educational day and I love nothing more than learning new things. Sadly the day did not pan out the way I would have liked it to.
My day began at 5am. The alarm screamed at me and I got out of bed so fast that I almost passed out. I got so dizzy and felt my heart boom shakka, boom shakka, really fast so I quickly sat back down. I sat there for 10 minutes and then felt better so this time around I slowly got up and began running around getting ready.
Come 6am I had Miss A and Miss D meet me at my home and I made them a very strong cup of Joe that I call the “Morning Wake Up Fix”, 4 shots of STRONG coffee with just a splash of warm milk. Almost instantaneously the two girls had awoken and were buzzing around my home. Ahhh bless caffeine. My good friend caffeine, always so reliable.
We then drove to my boss’ house were we all jumped into his Mrs' big 4WD. We drove into the city and I hate to brag but I was on fire. I was screaming out the car window, laughing, dancing in my seat, singing and having a blast. I wish we could have stayed in the car all day long and just driven around as I was in my element. I am pretty sure I had all the bastards laughing their heads off. I love me an audience and I would love to have the balls to do stand up.
We got to the Westin Melbourne and it was just a beautiful hotel. What I would give to be mega super dooper rich and live in a hotel if anyone is interested may I suggest you check out their website: www.westin.com.au/melbourne. I had such an urge to go exploring and go for a wander through the hotel but I was not there for adventure I was there to learn. Sadly in hindsight it would have been better if I went off on my own and explored.
Basically for the next 9 hours we all had to endure the most boring, long, tedious seminar I have ever been to. Did I learn anything? Well, no not really. I think if I was a dentist I would have gotten something out of it but I have to say it was way over my head. Way, way, way, over my head.
I had Miss D, next to me and we spent the first 4 odd hours writing notes to another and then in the afternoon session, Suez, Miss D, Miss A and I switched our mobile phones on, plonked them on silent mode and spent the majority of the afternoon sending sms’ to one another.
We all got the giggles and it is so hard to giggle and not make noises. At one point the four of us were laughing so hard that I could feel the table, chairs and our bodies shaking. Little did I know that an orthodontist behind us could see the commotion we were causing and he came up to me in the afternoon and pissed himself laughing. He said, “You girls are so naughty and may I please join in the fun as what you guys are doing seems way more fun than this lecture”.
After our frivolity Miss A decided to take a nap. At first I thought it was funny and giggled and then I got annoyed as I was getting rather embarrassed for my boss. I kept asking Suez to nudge her. Everybody could see her sleeping. I sms her and ripped her to shreds. I said will you wake the fuck up! Go to the ladies and throw some water on your face and go for a little walk around the hotel or get some fresh air and then come back. Thankfully my sms and my harsh words woke the silly little cow up. What is it with today’s youth?
