I invited ManBoy around last night, as there was an amazing documentary on SBS titled “Plaster Caster” that I was hanging out to see.  Its been a few days since I had seen ManBoy so what better way to kill two birds with one stone.  

I have to tell you about this doco as it was mind blowing but before I do I need to express that the doco was a little “eccentric”.  I kind of like things that are sometimes a bit left of centre or a bit eccentric. 

So Plaster Caster was about a recovering groupie who performed a very special act.  No she wasn’t famous for only giving gobbies to famous people but by also taking plaster casts (hence the name Plaster Caster) of famous people’s penises.  Yes folks, penises.  You may refer to the penis as a cock, a dick, a knob, a wiener, a shlong, a Big Johnson, a sausage, a one-eyed snake, or as I like to call them – dicky birds. 

Plaster Caster’s real name is Cynthia Albritton but she now goes by the name of Cynthia Plaster Caster.  Her work which not only includes plaster cast of dicky birds but also of bronze dicky birds has seen her do some amazing art exhibitions and to also inspire a song to be written about her by the band KISS.  (You can i-tune it – KISS Plaster Caster) Her artwork is very avant-garde and interesting to say the least.

The doco was definitely an eye opener for me as they showed how she made these casts.  Trippy, trippy shit man! 

Being a kid born in the 70’s my brother John was KISS obsessed and he would make me listen to KISS.  I remember being about 7 or 8 years old and loving a song called Plaster Caster.  Who would have known 60 million years later that I would find out what the song was really all about.  Oh man I remember standing in front of my mirror with my hair brush in hand singing and head banging to Plaster Caster.  Crikey!          

Some famous dicks she’s made model penises of include: Jimi Hendrix, Jello Biafra, Noel Redding, Eddie Brigatti and a whole ton more. 

Both ManBoy and I sat on the sofa excited about what we were going to see.  I was excited thinking wow a doco all about cocks; oh man I’m gunna see a shit load of cocks.  Simple things amuse simply minds I guess.  We both watched it in utter silence and we didn’t get to see any dicky birds as they kept fuzzing the screen over, regardless of this it still ended up being a highly entertaining and amusing doco.

What I found highly amusing was Plaster Caster’s method of taking an impression or taking models of the dicky birds was the exact same process of how we take impressions at work of teeth, minus the dicky birds and pubes.  How on earth am I going to keep a straight face the next time I have to dental nurse on a patient having dental impressions taken?
