Monday 12th May 2008 - Root Canal Treatment anyone?...

Reney with a toothache, 3 hours sleep and wanting to slit her wrists out of sheer exasperation is not a good thing but thank God I work in a dental surgery.

I’ve been having RCT on my lower left 6 for the past 2 years and I was actually planning on flying up to Sydney to have Tee finish it off (he is an Endodontist – a dentist who has had further study and specializes only in RCT) but being the busy sheila that I am I have not been able to book a flight and get my cottage cheese arse up there.  So I kept booking myself in to see BossMan but continuously having to take myself out of the appointment book to accommodate patients in pain.   I let it go and let it go until I’m about ready to curl up and die from pain. (And they say I’m narcissistic and always think that things are about me…yeah right!)

I got to work on the verge of tears and rested my head on BossMan’s arm begging and pleading for a block infiltration (that means a very long needle injected so far back in your mouth that when being injected you almost think that the needle is going to pierce through your cheek and come out of your ear).  BossMan was obliging and it was sheer heaven to be out of pain. 

During my lunch break the delightful Dr. Nicko rubber dammed me up and off to work he went.  He was gracious enough to let me take my camera in with me and I clicked away whilst being “operated” on.  BossMan kept coming in and taking the mickey out of me but I was unable to hurt him or punch him or tell him to fuck off as I was on my back, with my mouth wide open and feeling suffocated as I had a rubber dam wrapped around my face.  I guess this is another case of payback to Reney for taking the piss out of everyone.

 At one point I looked to my right and there stood BossMan outside looking into the surgery and pulling what I think was, hmm how do I say this, "fellatio facial movements” I thought I was going to choke on the rubber dam, the cheeky bugger!

I heard the usual comments like “Oh Reney, this is the quietest you have ever been” and “Oh look she’s not flitching and being restless for once” It was open season on Reney.  All I wanted to do was scream and give them the bird but alas I was too exhausted to do a thing.

I felt nothing and it wasn’t a horrific experience but now I am out of pain just so exhausted and I feel rather muddle-headed.

My lesson is that I need to start looking after myself and putting myself first so that I don’t have to endure shitty painful nights like I did last night.

With that my bed awaits!
